World Telecommunication Network Systems

What is Telecommunication Network?

Telecommunication is a broad discussion, and it is also a global term. Telecommunication is the communication process by the electric media. Basically, data or information can be transmitted by the connecting wire or without wire for small or long distances which is called the telecommunication process. You can transmit audio or video information or data. The world telecommunication network systems consist of a large number of equipment.

The telecommunication process is the greatest innovation for telecommunication engineering. A telecommunication system consists of many equipment and a wide network. Indeed, many years ago telecommunication systems is used for different purposes. Nowadays it has taken a leading part around the world. We are taking over the phone, sending satellites to space, transmitting data from one place to another place, and others. Telecommunication is responsible for these.

How Does Telecommunication Network Work?

We already told before telecommunication network is a wide range of network systems. A telecommunication network consists of many types of equipment and it is related to the global system for mobile communication system. These are used to transmit information (audio, video, analog/digital signal, etc.) or data. Basically, whenever we send any data or information the transmitter receives and converts it into the signal and transmits it through the transmission medium receiver. The receiver receives the signal and converts it back into usable information. In general, each telecommunication network is conceptually made up of three parts, or planes

  • The control plane handles information (also known as signaling).
  • Data Plane or User Plane or Bearer Plane Network carries user traffic.
  • Traffic management is built on the operational plane.

Basically, telecommunication systems are the connection of nodes. Telecommunication is distance communication that communicates by electromagnetic waves. We can show here an example of a telecommunication network system. The telephone network is part of the telecommunication network, not only for the telephone network but computer networks, broadcasting systems (TV, satellite), etc. Basically, such devices work as nodes that are used to communicate with others.

What are Telecommunication Switching Systems?

A telecommunication switching system is used to establish connections between nodes. If we connect with the nodes the signals are sent to the users. Telecommunication switching systems refer to the switching of voice channels. There are many types of telecommunication switching systems, such as tandem switches, local switches, and transit switches.

Basically, telecommunication switches and links are designed for voice communication. Electromagnetic wave or signals is sent by using such equipment. Nowadays there are many switches that offer very high bandwidth, big satellites cheap, and small earth antennas.

If the computer is used to control the switching system it is called an electronic switching system (ESS). Basically, an electronic switching system was introduced in 1970. The digital electronic switching system was started in 1976 for the public network. We know that the message signal is converted into electrical waves before transmission. It is noted that whenever we talk our voice is the analog signal that has a specific frequency and amplitude.

The voice frequency range is determined by the communication device, communication channel, and bandwidth. Analog signal bandwidth is the most commonly used parameter for identifying the electrical signal. There is a limitation to passing the frequency of the telephone system usually 300 to 3400 Hz nowadays bandwidth is 3100 Hz. Now we have shown here the bandwidth and bit rate table.

Classification of Telecommunication Switching System

We know that telecommunication network plays a crucial part in modern communication systems. The world communication system has been easy due to the wide range of telecommunication networks. PSTN is the Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN). It is part of the telecommunication networks, and it is also responsible for the internet, radio and television networks, and ATM networks (Asynchronous Transfer Mode).

Public Switch Telephone Network consists of switching components, and transmission components. PSTN is also used for billing systems, maintaining equipment, and other internal components. It is noted that PSTN is sometimes called POTS (plain Old Telephone System). There are some classifications of telecommunication switching systems, or world telecommunication network systems, such as

Once time manual switching systems would be used but with increasing technology manual switching systems are reduced due to some disadvantages. Nowadays automatic switching system is used due to their greater advantages.

What are the Elements of Telecommunication Switching System?

The switching system is a crucial part of telecommunication, and it also plays a leading role in the exchange of information. The purpose of a telecommunication switching system is to exchange information from one point to another point or from one terminal to another terminal. There are many parts of the telecommunication system, such as

  • Instruments or end system
  • Switching system
  • Telecommunication transmission system
  • Signaling
  • Line Scanning Unit
  • Distributor Units
  • Trunk Interface
  • Subscriber Line Interface

What is Telecommunication equipment?

The telecommunication network is a broad network. There are large numbers of equipment installed to transmit and process the telecommunication network (signal) and this network is used by wire or wireless communication process. Basically, we can’t finish talking about telecommunication equipment. After that we are referring to some most usable and essential equipment.

  • Fiber optics cable
  • Transmitter
  • Receiver
  • Switches
  • Control software
  • Telecommunication channels
  • Input/output devices
  • BTS
  • Radom
  • Routers
  • Satellites
  • VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)

Basically, telecommunication network systems work or transfer signals by connecting internet protocol. Telecommunication equipment relies on software to make it work and therefore relies on technologists who create software and hardware components of technology.
